Experience classical labyrinth game action with aMAZEd.

Starting the game

Wait until the game is fully loaded. aMAZEd will start in the demonstration mode. Point with your mouse onto the game display and press the left mouse button once. Now the focus of your Internet browser is set on the game. Press "R" to start the game. Alternatively, select a level from the left hand side of the LunchBreakGames game screen. After selecting a new level, don't forget to reactivate the game by clicking with the mouse on the playfield once.

Target

The goal of the game is very simple. Move your player to the exit. You can move the player using the Cursor keys. Reaching the exit is not straight forward though. Your path will be blocked by several obstacles. Some of those can be removed only by picking up and using objects. The item inventory on the left hand side of the screen displays what objects you have already picked up. You can not have more than six items in your inventory at one given point in time.
Pick up objects by simply navigating your player over the object. You can use objects by hitting the tile you want to use the object on with your player.

Meet the enemy

In some playfields you will meet deadly antagonists. All of them can roam freely through the playfields. While doing so they might open memory stones, operate switches or ride on escalators. If you plan wisely, you can use the enemies to your advantage. For this you have to understand their behaviour.

The Common Roller

The roller will move straight ahead until it comes to a block. It will then turn right and try to move ahead in this direction until it encounters the next block, where it will turn right again and on and on and on.

Shape

Shapes are made as simple as the common roller. Only difference being that while rollers always turn right on hitting a block, a shape will turn left.

Caterpillars

Caterpillars always move straight until they encounter a block. Once they can't move straight any further, they simply turn around and move into the opposite direction.

Twirls

Twirls are rather shy individuals. They try to get as far away from you as possible.

Bombs

The most deadly enemy of them all, bombs will find you and always move straight towards you. Your only chance to avoid getting trapped by a bomb is in putting as many obstacles between yourself and a bomb as you can.

Locks and Keys

Locks block your way. You can open locks by picking up a key of the matching color, and using the key on the lock. There are locks of three different colors. If you encounter a lock, find the matching key. Pick up the key by navigating your player onto the key symbol. If there still is room in your inventory, the key will be added to your inventory.
Then move your player towards the lock and move simply against the lock. aMAZEd will check if you have a matching key in your inventory. If so, the lock will be opened and the key be taken from your inventory.

Memory Stones

Move the player against the Memory Stone to reveal its hidden color. For every Memory Stone, a second Memory stone with a matching color is hidden somewhere on the playfield. Find this second Memory Stone. Then, while one of the matching Memory Stones is showing its color, navigate your player to the matching memory stone and hit it. Both Memory Stones will explode and disappear.
Locate and remove all Memory Stones to bring the Memory Stone Block to an explosion.

Color Change Tiles

Move your player over a color change tile to change it's color. Green tiles turn to orange, while orange tiles turn to green. Be mindful that enemies change the tile colors as well when moving over them. Once you've entered a color change tile, aMAZEd will display an overview in the upper part of the screen where you can see how many tiles are currently set to green and how many are orange.
Set all color change tiles to the same color (no matter if green or orange), to make the color change block explode.

Keystones

You can activate keystones by placing a keyball of the matching color into the keystone. Locate a keyball of the matching color, navigate to the matching keystone and hit it with your player. The keystone will be filled.
Filling all key stones will make the keystone block explode.

Boxes

Boxes do not serve a special purpose, other than to give you a hard time. You can push a box by moving your player against it. Your player is only strong enough to move one single box. If two boxes are located one after each other, you can not push both of them at once. Boxes with an arrow symbol always try to move into the direction of the arrow. Unless being currently pushed, riding on a conveyor belt or being obstructed, arrow boxes will always move towards the direction of the arrow.

Color Boxes

Color boxes work very much like ordinary boxes but with one difference. Place four of them next to each other in a square, and they will explode. There is also a secret trick of making six boxes explode at the same time for additional points.
Once all color boxes did explode, the color box block will explode as well.

Conveyor Belts

Conveyor belts push everything that lands on them (be that an enemy, a box, or your player) into the direction they point towards. Conveyor belts can be active or inactive. Active conveyor belts shine blue, while inactive ones appear black. You can activate or deactivate conveyor belts by using switches that you find on the playfield.

Switches

Switches turn conveyor belts on or off. You can activate or deactivate a switch by simply moving your player over a switch. Be aware that enemies can trigger switches as well. In some levels you might encounter switches where the lever has gone missing . You can repair those switches by locating a lever on the playfield, picking it up with your player and moving over the damaged switch to repair it.

Teleports

It's always greener on the other side. Move to a different part of the playfield by moving your player onto a teleport field. Be aware: teleports are one way only. They get you there, but will you get back?
